77% of the critics liked it? oh wow... that's rather shocking.

I love Will Ferrell but this movie is just occasionally funny. Its a bit confused... I think you have to decide that a film is gonna be an action comedy or a funny action film (like Bad Boys), it's usually a bad idea when you try to do both. Personally I can care less for the big action shots or fancy camera work/special effect here, I just want to laugh and be amused. Tropic Thunder sort of made that mistake as well.... it's been happening for a while now: in general big budget does comedies no good. Outside of a few moments here and there, The Other Guys often forgets to be funny. The chemistry is okay, but the story is rather bad. Mark Wahlberg's got the funnier character as an angry kid, esp. the bits with his ex.

And near the end there it was supposedly to be some sort of social critic lesson? Come on now..... one minute you were making fun of the homeless and then the next you want us to learn about malfunction financial system... it's just not the place.
