Review of The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) by Adam S — 11 Apr 2012
This movie plays more like one of the BBC miniseries that come on every so often in a Sunday night slot when everyone else is watching "The Big Bang Theory". And that certainly doesn't make a great film.
I caught this one on TV, an watched it primarily because it starred a host of actors - Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Eric Bana and Jim Sturgess, namely - whom I really respect.
But I got more emotion, at least until the final scenes, from the anti-smoking ads that came on inbetween the movie. Just wasn't gripping at all, had no edge, and, like most of the aforementioned BBC dramas, fails to take advantage of the truly engaging piece of history it is based on.
4/10 for the final couple of scenes, which at least meant the film was going somewhere.
