It's still The Boleyn Girl who takes center stage here. In Natlie Portman's dynamic performance you can see strength and vulnerability warring for Anne's soul. Scarlett Johansson carries her humility with good grace.
And the sumptuous staging more than compensates for some of the plot's thinness.
