Review of The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) by Rakeem M — 30 Nov 2009
An incurably melodramatic, wholly inaccurate production that managed to suck me in due to the performances. Let's face it, it's a huge soap opera and if they can't offer us something historically truthful, at least make it fun - and that's exactly what they did! Portman, Johansson and Bana are terrific and it's clear that Portman relished the opportunity to play a woman so driven (okay, she was sort of a massive bitch).
I also loved Kristen Scott Thomas and wished that she had more screen time, she was wonderful in the few scenes she had and she really packed an emotional punch.
