Review of The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) by Ummay B — 05 Feb 2010
Natalie Portman and Eric Bana pair up excellently. Johansson delivers an unmatched performance too... I love the setting, in medieval times...the classic decors and of course the DRESSES! the music is simply beautiful....
There are lots of morals in this movie about people's mentality and mindsets...love,the lust for power, sisterhood, brotherhood,laws!,selfishness...
It's unfortunate how love can disturb sisterhood...
Anne is so selfish...she thinks for herself..I guess it's because of the fact that she has always been given the privilege of having whatever she covets all the time...ever since she was a child...but admittedly, I admire her..i sort of find some matching traits in my personality and her character...being the first daughter...I love her character...she is such a strong and confident woman who does not accept defeat easily...
But her selfishness paved the way to her ruthless death... hers and that of her brother as well. On top of these,to be highlighted is the obvious fact that this selfishness was sparkled by love..love for the king Henry, who, despite his deep and profound love for Anne ordered the latter's execution...
The prime culprits were Mr. Boleyn and the duke, who,in their quest for favors from the king, destroyed the girls' lives...They were the originators of this tragedy through their plots!
Poor Mrs. Boleyn..she had to endure all these pains...helplessly...miserably...
