Review of The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) by David S — 05 Jul 2010
A lot of people tend to dislike this movie because of how historically incorrect it is and how unfaithful it is to the book. What these people don't realise, is that at the end of the movie, it states something like the characters, the locations and the story are fictional. What I've figured the director has done, is use historical figureheads and the locations as a tool to make a drama of his own.
Now comes the appeal the movie has to me. It is a tragedy, a film with sin, deceit and lust. Portman uses manipulation and seduction for personal gain, which results in her demise. It seems Portman's failed attempt at acting helps develop her character. Loved Eric Bana and Johansson in this. Great acting on their behalves. I really enoyed this movie.
