Review of The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) by Yee-Yin Y — 29 Oct 2012
An entertaining, historical fiction made in the style of a glorified soap opera, with altered facts (even from the novel it was based on) to accommodate the flow of the storyline better. The movie should have been told more from Mary Boleyn's perspective, after all, that's the title of the film.
The editing out of the crucial scenes of Mary and her developing relationship with William Stafford as well as the dissolving relationship with her husband, William Carey leading up to his death, leaves audience with a slightly abrupt feeling, as the film progressed towards the climactic scenes of the execution.
