Review of The Osterman Weekend (1983) by Amelia L — 04 Jun 2008
Once you get past the first 40 minutes of the film, everything picks up. This was Sam Peckinpah's last movie which is too bad because this was his chance to get back to work as he was on the outs with many producers in Hollywood and no one would hire him.
There are many aspects of the movie that make it obvious that the film was edited without his permission. Peckinpah also hated Robert Ludlum's book. Though, like I said, after the first 40 minutes when the old friends all get together at the house, it gets better and has a good message about obsession with the media and the voyeuristic aspects, but it's a shame that this is his last film.
