Review of The Orphanage (2007) by Angelina C — 23 Apr 2010
It is dark, gothic, eerie and visually unforgettable. El Orfanato is deprived of those Hollywood-style CGIs and yet it successfully draws you into the realms of horrific imaginations. There are no terrifying monsters waiting to jump out of the dark corners.
The real unease comes at the sight of empty hallways that could make all the hairs on your neck standing up to salute. Many of the scarier moments in the film are accompanied by innocuous sounds. Remember Nicole Kidmanâ??s The Others? You will be genuinely spooked by this dark Hispanic enchantment.
