Review of The Orphanage (2007) by Ruut K — 13 Jan 2011
SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FILM. I've one criticism: The pseudo-happy ending. How am I supposed to believe that Laura's soul can find peace among all the murdered children and her son, whose death she thinks was her own fault? And that her husband gladly returns to the orphanage after the horrible tragedy and smiles with comfort when he feels her dead wife's presence in the house? Please.
That kind of tragedy would leave anyone scarred for life. And afterlife for that matter.
