Review of The Orphanage (2007) by Trystan C — 23 Jul 2012
I fall asleep a lot in movies. It's because I usually see them after a long day at school having had a comparatively short sleep prior. But I will truck it out and keep myself awake. "The Orphanage" is the first film where I did not truck it out. I let myself slip off into sweet slumber, and would have remained there had the seat been comfier.
This year's "Pan's Labyrinth"!?! Are these critics fucking crazy? Pan's was a beautiful tale of a child's imagination overcoming the horrors of war and this is a supposed horror movie with maybe one scary moment and a little kid with a scarecrow's mask and a load of potential to be the scariest thing in cinema since that girl crawled out of the TV in "The Ring" that didn't pay off at all!
I have to say I was disappointed.
