Review of The Orb (2005) by Angela G — 09 Apr 2009
Ha, i'm the first to review this (most likely the only one who SAW it) so I might as well make this good. the orb was nothing short of cliche, in the sense that the premise is the same piece of gum that's been chewed 1 million times before.
and this one will most likely get stuck under the desk in class because it's low budget, directed, produced, starred and even catered by the same people. a family affair kind of makes it more endearing to me.
.. the drill is a bunch of youths hanging and banging out in the woods for some debauchery and much needed excess. of course an awfully cheap alien orb is coming right their way, which gets into a person's body and provokes them to kill.
it was a little like alf on crack mixed with 28 days later in hawaii. lots of Samoans and zero beautiful scenery, yet of course, tons of sex and nude women. it was so cheesy I finally began to somewhat enjoy it, despite the silent opening scene which took 15 minutes and almost put me to sleep.
I give this a 3 because of extra credit for the family thing, the creepy "warning guy" midget thing with the lop chocks, and the slightly creative camera tricks only hollywood could pull off with their budget.
dream large, kids.
