Review of The Open House (2018) by Rachel S — 24 Jan 2018
Being a Netflix original, I really thought this was going to be an incredible roller coaster ride of a movie.
It turned out to be a tea cup children ride...those kind of rides that are so old, so boring, and so predictable.
Forty Five minutes into the movie, I wanted it to be over. There were no real character development. Supporting characters were haphazardly thrown about as movie filler and the protagonists had no sense of believable dialogue.
Also, I understand most directors like to have the typical naked lady shower scene but the movie was about a mother and her son. You really didn't have to have a nude shot...twice in this movie.
All in all, it really felt like this was a undergraduate film that was directed by a couple of brothers who wanted to fit every cliche moment into a movie that involved their rich parents' home.
