Review of The One and Only Ivan (2020) by Jebh — 05 Sep 2020
I rarely pay attention to reviews by "paid critics" as they have forgotten what movies are for. In their eagerness to put something on paper, look for the moral of the story (does it need one?), or wonder why the company is doing something for the 100th time, they forget the reason it was made.
So simple really, for 90ish minutes, I got a chance to feel light hearted. A little happiness to put a smile on my face. Now, real life is back along with all the horrible news which is 24/7. This movie isn't the greatest or the worst, but it did exactly what is was supposed to do.
It entertained me, and isn't that what movies are for? You know, if it isn't broken, it doesn't need to be fixed.
