Review of The One (2001) by Gabriel M — 01 Nov 2009
It's a criminal use of film to put Jet Li front and center, literally having him play dozens of characters, and still feel like you're wasting his talents, in this murkily-shot, post-Matrix science fiction film about parallel realities where Bad Li is trying to kill all of the different versions of himself and absorb their powers (sort of a quantum theory version of THE QUICKENING).
A solid cast, and Li is game to show off his prowess, but the script is abominable, the direction is overly aggressive, and the oversized futuristic props look like leftovers from the MOONWALKER shoot.
