Review of The Omen (1976) by Joe O — 29 Oct 2009
Undoubtedly in everybody's horror lists, The Omen proves that big evil can come in small packages.
The idea behind The Omen is genius. Perhaps it's not s groundbreaking if you watch it thesedays, but back then, I'm sure it was.
Though the movie produces very few actual 'scares', the mythology and pure desire to find out what's going on keeps you intruiged.
The Omen starts off looking like a scary, maybe even slasher type film, but eventually becomes a chase for the truth.
Gregory Peck is great Damien's father, and his subtlety perhaps, makes the film.
Damien himself makes onll a few appearances, which is a shame because his cute but creepy little face is one of the more scarier aspects of the film.
The Omen has quite a bit of gore, and a story that will hold the interest of most.
Maybe it doesn't hold up as well in this modern age, but it's a most see for classic horror fans.
