Review of The Omen (1976) by Baurushan J — 11 Mar 2012

Although the story flows pretty solid, it gets pretty boring, the music is spot on but my god the plot is ridiculous and kills it. I was hoping this film to be as good as The Exorcist as this was the next good film in line waiting in the row of horror movies about possession, this was the one people kept talking about.

Compared to other movies about possession like the good ones like Drag Me to Hell and The Evil Dead and bad ones like Paranormal Activity and The Devil Inside and that some liked but others hated like End of Days and Insidious but even though that has happened along with The Omen, The Exorcist kicks them all in the nuts.

I'm not saying this for show-off because The Omen does find a decent match-up with The Exorcist but it's not enough to be as good as that film. I had plenty of fun and plenty of scares, the film was decent enough to be a nice creepy 70's possession flick but I didn't get enough of not only what I wanted but what I should have got within movies like these back then could have more potential to gain the full marks but it sadly didn't.

The Omen gets a 8/10.
