Review of The Omen (1976) by Ibraheem M — 12 Oct 2014
31 of 31 #19 THE OMEN - Classic, absolute classic...there is not a single thing I don't love about this movie....except that in some areas the effects are more than showing their age, but the plot of the story and the tone and that soundtrack...that freaking soundtrack....are as powerful to me as they were when I saw this movie back in 1985.
We all know Damian and what his deal is, he is the son of the devil and he is here to kick start the apocalypse now all over the political world.
What I love about this movie is that everyone is taking their parts seriously, and this totally sells to me the conflict they are all experiencing.
Special mention goes to the kid that played Damian, he is not creepy in the way that kids nowadays are creepy just staring into open spaces like fucking idiots....this one had a stare on his eyes that would be followed by a smile and that alone makes him creepy.
If you seen this movie....you know the ending scene....with him just staring at the screen.....and then he smiles...its the perfect ending where the Devil won that round.....and its letting you know he won.
Absolutely brilliant movie...avoid the remake as it TOTALLY misses the point.
