Review of The Omega Man (1971) by Nik L — 28 Dec 2007
Great, cheesy fun. While hideously unfaithful to Matheson's classic, it is certainly enjoyable in its own way. A product of its time. Charlton Heston brings his loner, last man routine from "Planet of the Apes" into this world, which alters Neville's character.
As well as the mutants being, for lack of a better word, normal. The musical score by Ron Grainer is excellent. The religious themes are subtle, and underplayed, and not as tacked on as "I am Legend"'s.
