Review of The Omega Man (1971) by Stephen C — 14 Dec 2009
Aprt from the fact the plague victims look like Status Quo roadies.
This film is very much of its time.
Charlton Heston gets to fire loads of guns as the last man on earth (or so he thinks ) until he meets a bunch of survivors who rely on him to find a cure for the plaque which has stricken the earth.
The film is very 70s and in some parts it is very cheesy indeed ,but despite this the film feels a lot better than I am Legend for the cheesy parts .
Heston is Heston and that is what makes the film worth watching and the ending does not feel like the cop out that the later film gives us.
No classic then but a good watch.
