Review of The Omega Man (1971) by Bobby L — 01 May 2010
Heston shows the mutants of the biological future that the key to survival is the NRA. (very) Loosely based on the book 'I am Legend' by Richard Matheson. The film follows Robert Neville the sole survivour of a biological war that has mutated everyone into a noctural creature.
The film has a powerful atmosphere as the last man on Earth cruises the empty streets surround by the skeleton remains of humanity. Pursued by the remaining mutants that call themselves the brotherhood, Nevilles goal is to discover a cure.
The brotherhood wish not to be saved but to destroy every last bit of the past that turned them the way they are. The film is exciting in parts and Heston gives his usual performance of guns a blazing and corny lines.
