Review of The Omega Man (1971) by Blais E — 24 Apr 2011
Effective early 70's remake of Vincent Price's "Last Man on Earth", superior to that & Will Smith's coma-inducing recent & unnecessary update, with Charlton Heston at his ass-kicking best, as he squares off against the vicious members of the psychotic "Family", a homicidal band of mutant albino victims of a devastating plague caused by a war using biological weaponry.
As brought to life by the always-creepy Anthony Zerbe as leader Matthias, & especially Lincoln Kilpatrick as the militant Zachary, they are frighteningly memorable, and are the stuff of nightmares (I saw this when it came out at the age of 9, and had plenty of 'em!)--VEEERRRYYY 70's , with dated "Hip" characters & dialogue, but still very enjoyable.
Directed by Boris Sagal, Katey Sagal's ( "Married With Children"'s Peg Bundy-) father.
