Review of The Old Man & the Gun (2018) by Todd G — 12 Oct 2018
After seeing this movie, I get the feeling critics were desperate to like something, anything. One critic even claimed that Redford's smile was the best part of the movie. Low expectations are a thing now, I guess.
I sat through this, barely staying awake in what seemed like a bare bones script with little to no effort on the actors' part. It seemed like the film was saying, "Isn't an elderly bank robber cute?".
As there was nothing much more to this film than that. A cute elderly bank robber. I wouldn't even call it a character study, as the characters were simply thumbnail sketches of what could have been more interesting characters.
