Review of The Odd Couple (1968) by Grëg W — 13 Sep 2009
A hilarious fast-talking comedy starring the brilliant duo of jack lemmon and walter matthau. this is one of the films that shows that old comedies still hold up greatly today in the mess of "comedies" they put out weekly.
the story revolves around the recently divorced felix ungar (jack lemmon) who is severely depressed after his wife kicks him out. after a couple botched suicide attempts, he decides to join his friends for poker and discovers that oscar madison (walter matthau) has also recently divorced his wife and needs a roommate at his apartment.
decidedly, he moves in and they find that both their lifestyles are completely opposite, oscar being a laid back slob and felix being an obsessive compulsive neat freak. hilarity ensues. as I said, this movie is not dated in any way, and holds up greatly with the slew of terrible comedies they put out nowadays.
highly recommended for all comedy fans.
