Review of The Odd Couple (1968) by Corey N — 17 Aug 2010
This is considered a classic comedy. Based off the theatre play this translates well into a movie. The basic plot is two middle aged divorced men who end up sharing a apartment together. One is a slob while the other is a neat freak.
I would call this a smart comedy. It does not try and get a cheap laugh through out the film. It has very witty and smart dialogue. Actors Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon are great in this. They have great chemistry in this.
One can see why they did more movies together later on. Now I would not say this is the best comedy I have ever seen. But I did enjoy it for what it was. A solid comedy that will appeal to those looking for a smart and witty movie.
Well worth a watch.
