Review of The Object of My Affection (1998) by Sarah L — 25 Aug 2007
A regular romantic drama. but there is a brilliant scene where the boyfriend comes to visit the girlfriend and her gay flatmate to find that she is pregnant. present in the scene also are the sister, sister-in-law, their child, even the neighbor, practically every character in the story, who all quickly roll into a minute long argumentative heated moment of shock, jealousy, old grudges, neurosism etc.
plain funny. the director clearly has a streak of woody allen genius quality in him. the scene's dynamics of the incredible multidimensional dialogue at fast tempo is classic! the rest is pretty regular.
