Review of The Nutty Professor (1996) by D R — 30 Nov 2009
The Nutty Professor is about a Professor named Sherman Klump (Eddie Murphy) who has always felt bad about his weight. One night he experiments on hisself by turning hisself thinner. Sherman is now called Buddy who has never felt so good in his life. Sherman tries to keep it a secret by not letting anyone know that Buddy is him. Things get bad for Sherman when somehow he can't control hisself as Buddy tries to take over him. Now Sherman must make a choice either to go on life as a big man or live as Buddy.
The Nutty Professor is one of my all-time fav comedies. Eddie Murphy just makes hisself a believible fat guy. I liked how Eddie played like 5 or 6 different people in this film where it must've been hard for him but experience at the same time. Eddie Murphy just rocks at being a comedian even though I thought his side playing Buddy was a jerk but still awesome. Jada Pinkett Smith who played Mrs. Perdy was gorgeous as ever with her kindness & how she respected Murphy for who he was. I thought that was very touching. Hard to find people like that in the world who love you for who you are. Overall, The Nutty Professor is still one fo the best comedies ever & a emotional at that. Eddie will always be one of the best Kings of Comedy.
4 stars.
