Review of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018) by Gerda P — 12 Nov 2018
It seems that Disney is more focused on acquiring and managing their other properties this year (namely Marvel and FOX) and therefore cannot be bothered to work on good storytelling. This is yet another film of theirs in a row that looks gorgeous but truly lacks any character.
The story is boring and very predictable, the characters are rather empty and the twists (especially Sugar Plum being the villain) are simply laughable. Don't even get me started on Clara realising that the power is 'within her'.
It was already a Narnia and Alice in Wonderland copy and didn't need Kung Fu Panda added to the mix! These great actors deserved much better material to work with than a tired mix of stories we have heard before.
If this film didn't look gorgeous it wouldn't be worth watching at all.
