A few cheap jump scares doesn't make a movie. Neither does a paper thin plot.
The Nun is based on one thing: a scary image of a nun and that's really about it. Let's see how contrived we can get and set it Romania (where no one seemed to speak Romanian) and in a haunted castle turned convent. These cliches might be great if they added to the story at all, but sadly there's nothing much more than a Scooby-Doo cartoon with a little gore and common scare tactics.
