Could've have been a strong addition to Wan's Conjuring universe if it wasn't for its tired problematic shtick of scaring people and a thinly arranged plot. Great performances, great setting, no doubt.
An appearance of Valak's true form (horns and wings and all) could've brought a homerun of scare at the climax. It might have helped.
