Review of The Numbers Station (2013) by Max A — 16 Feb 2013
Just saw this on DirecTV pay-per-view. I have no idea why DirecTV was showing this before it hit theaters.
It was mildly suspenseful so I'm thinking that it doesn't exactly qualify as a "thriller." There was a minor amount of violence...there was violence but it was in infrequent doses so it doesn't really qualify as an "action" movie either.
I like John Cusack as an actor but I thought that he was largely wasted in this movie. Unlike say, Gross Pointe Blank, this is played totally straight and that's okay. The problem is that the film just isn't exciting enough. With the two lead characters locked up inside a bunker this had all of the potential of a "Die Hard" style flick but it just didn't work out that way.
Movie tickets are expensive and if someone asked me I would tell them to skip this one and catch it on cable or satellite. I shelled out for this on pay-per-view so you can say that I took one for the team with this one. Not a horrible movie but not anywhere near great or even good.
