Review of The Number 23 (2007) by J M — 26 Jan 2013
The most satisfying moment is at the end when the true origin of the number 23 was revealed.
Numbers 32:23 But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.'.
Jim Carrey had to confront his horrible sin of murder after 14 years of amnesia until his destiny brought him to the novel he wrote about his crime 14 years ago before jumping off a building surviving his life but not his memory of the past. The entire movie is about Jim Carrey's discovery of his crime eventually. At that point, he could have chosen to continue to conceal his crime. But he chose repentance. We know God loves a repentant man. Whether it was God who moved Jim as his lost sheep to repent or was it Jim's free will choosing repentance doesn't really matter. What matters he repented and freed another man (the great actor Mark Pellegrino) who was wrongly jailed for Jim's crime.
Ezekiel 18:23 Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?
