Review of The Number 23 (2007) by Marcus B — 21 Apr 2012
When mystery and supernatural is mixed in a movie plot, the results can be spectacular - "Sixth Sense" and "The Sign" are perfect proofs of that fact. The thing is though that great majority of movies that try that angle do have a tendency of becoming a farce.
Unfortunately "The Number 23" is an addition to that second, less glorious group. The plot is simply ridiculous and everything falls apart because of that. However, the movie is still worth watching for two reasons - Carrey out of his comfort zone proves here that he would be perfect for next "great" silversceen serial killer persona.
He is truly scary in some of the scenes. Also, as it turns out, Virginia Madsen is one damn hot brunette!
