Review of The Notorious Bettie Page (2006) by David K — 23 Jun 2007
Excellent little biopic about the most enduring female icon of the 1950's. Mary Harron handles Bettie's story with care, treating the subject matter with the respect it deserves. Her direction is flawless as she goes from black and white to colour.
She uses her eye like a pin-up photographer from that time, depicting the 50's in a very dreamy way. Gretchen Mol is incredibly gorgeous in the lead and makes Betties' innocent naivete quite convincing.
An excellent supporting cast, and a beautiful finale complete this wonderful picture.
