Review of The Notebook (2004) by Raqi M — 18 Aug 2015
After watching The Notebook I have realized many things. You can say my life changed.
Firstly, I hate romantic movies. No, I have MODERN romantic movies, because freaking CASABLANCA is how a romantic movie should be. This, this stupid melodramatic Nicholas Sparks based movie is an insult to Casablanca and other great romances. How could you, Nick Cassavetes? Your dad was an amazing director/actor, your mom is a great actress, but you...a disappointment starring with this thing. You even dragged your mom?? You promised her it will be the next Citizen Kane or how did she accept it? God...this movie is what started this stupid romantic modern movies (yes, usually based on the same crappy author's novels) and I just hate them. They are so unrealistic, stupid, manipulative and tear-jerking. But for no reason! Why should I cry? I did not cry because of the cute old people whose lady has Alzheimer's because IT WAS SO UNREALISTIC AND A CLICHE! Why should I cry for Allie since she was an unsympathetic bitch?
Secondly, my God, the annoying fangirl reaction. I agree, Ryan Gosling is hot and mostly this is why I gave it 2 stars. But after this movie there were so many stupid teenagers hoping their life will be like in this movie. Why? You will never have Ryan Reynolds. You don't even know how the 50's was. So stop wishing. And why should you wish to have Alzheimer's?
