Review of The Normal Heart (2014) by Steven K — 31 May 2014
There were moments during the film where I felt so upset that I wanted to turn off the movie and never go back to it again. There were scenes that made me feel sick in the stomach, as well as the scenes that made my throat hurt from all the tears I was holding back.
Despite these moments that made this movie so difficult to watch, I watched it all the way to the credit scene because this is a movie that must not be ignored. The only thing worse than directly being involved in the act of cowardice, carelessness and neglect that resulted in deaths of thousands of lives is to not care enough or to not be strong enough to face the errors of the past and learn from it so as to avoid repeating the same failure.
We need to know, and, for that reason, I urge every one of you to watch this important film.
