Featuring some really great performances and some strong direction from Ryan Murphy, the Normal Heart might be a little too melodramatic in moments, but its forgiven due to its completely tragic subject material.
If not for these wonderful actors, many of these moments might seem just like people crying and yelling at each other. But the subtlety of character that the performers bring to each person on screen, makes everything work so well.
