Review of The Ninth Gate (1999) by Jimmy M — 02 Aug 2009
This movie had great potential. The plot is great, similar to others but has it's own uniqueness and originality that I loved. The whole movie was creepy. Little bits could have been done better, but it was still enjoyable.
Johnny Depp was great as always, he never fails. However, the ending tapered off into a climax and ending that just screams "we ran out of money so we gotta end it here." Very boring and very disappointing.
It let the rest of the movie down. If you're a fan of these type of films, demonic religious horror thrillers, it's worth a viewing. But most people probably wont enjoy it that much and will find it boring.
