Review of The Ninth Gate (1999) by Nekrobomb J — 08 Dec 2010
Depp and Langella have something common. They refuse to be pigeonholed. Always so different, they come together here as a crooked book hunter and a satanic collector. I know my reviews are for myself. I find few people who love this movie like I do.
From the first scene I'm locked in. I love the idea of a book bounty hunter. The Satanic libraries. The cult. Corso wants out most of the time, but keeps pressing on no matter the danger. We follow him, deeper and deeper.
I'll watch it again and be just as happy. The ominous score. I will never connect with the human race until I find out why I like this movie more than so many others.
