Review of The Ninth Gate (1999) by Peter V — 07 Jun 2010
The occult is very intreging in this one, probably enhanced by Johnny. This main character is corrupted and hired by a private collector in satan's lectures. This one book he needs to compare with other exct ones, which is rather intresting I think, it keeps the grand mystery wide open! The plot is a traveling quest full of suspicion and suprising twists.
The scenes and the acting is sublime, always open for more interpretation. A lot of suspence but low on action as it is set on a class act, high value bookcollectors culture. Compare this even with a second rated "The librarian.
.." and you can say this story, this film is special! (seen twice).
