Review of The Ninth Gate (1999) by Daniel L — 28 May 2011
I like this movie because out of all the bullshit stories you see or read about devil worship and summoning, this one actually goes through a good process to make it as believable as it could be considered.
The usual shit is ancient cults and traditions passed on through generation to generation. Our attention spans have already been proven not to be able to hold enough deep traditions through a couple of generations, unless there is an autistic person born to every generation hell-bent on preserving stupid rituals.
The search for three ancient books and a riddle hold throughout all three copies is far more within the boundaries of believable.
Saying that though, the climax was a little upsetting.
