Review of The Ninth Configuration (1980) by Hindénbörg E — 01 Sep 2007
My personal favorite film about religion...
It's a theological film for lovers of "Catch-22" and "O Lucky Man!"-- The first hour or so is just batshit absurdism performed by an impressive cast of some of the most underrated/underused character actors of the time.
Stacey Keach, Robert Loggia, Joe Spinnel, Ed Flanders, Neville Brand, Scott Wilson, Tom Atkins--- All in one damn movie!
The abrupt change of tone (Comedy to Tragedy) in the last 20 minutes is so extreme that by the end you really can't believe you're watching the same film you were an hour ago.
William Peter Blatty needs to make more movies... Immediately. So far he only has this and Exorcist III (Another great & misunderstood film-- Also based off his own writings).
