Review of The Nines (2007) by Tom A — 30 Aug 2008
Strange "thriller" stars Ryan Reynolds as a troubled actor under house arrest, dealing with an overly attentive next-door neighbour (Hope Davis) and a fun but controlling publicist (Melissa McCarthy).
Then it turns into reality TV show about a TV show being made (same cast in similar roles) and then, it becomes that TV show (same cast again). Why? Something about Reynolds' characters being controlling entities who are actually one controlling deity (guess what His name is?) who enjoys his time on Earth too much.
It's an interesting premise destroyed by poor filmmaking, bad writing (by someone who clearly lives in a little LA bubble) and a lame cast.
