Review of The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) by Antony G — 14 Jan 2013
Is this a Christmas film or a Halloween movie? An interesting combination of both holidays which works for both occasions. Thankfully it's a short film because musicals have never been my bag & all the singing can become tedious. The animation is fantastic & stands out in this age of 3D & CGI animation. The humour is great, obviously a bit on the dark side, and all in all an entertaining movie.
Jack Skellington lives in Halloween Town & is bored of celebrating this holiday year after year & longs for something new. He discovers Christmas Town & wants to bring the joy of this time of year to Halloween Town. Sadly the locals don't quite get it & after a botched job of bringing Santa Claus to Halloween Town, Jack Skellington finds himself doing Santa's job. Sadly for the world Jack's efforts ruin Christmas which turns into a living nightmare for all children. Jack must rescue Santa from the Boogeyman before its too late & try to save Christmas for its cancelled.
