Review of The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) by Shruti M — 04 Mar 2015
It's official. Tim Burton is a great producer and writer and Henry Selick is a great director. Together, they create a classic movie called The Nightmare Before Christmas. The animated movie that has everything a Tim Burton movie needs: weridness, and greatness. The movie is an epic ride of animation.
In Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, we take place in Halloween Town, a town full of all kinds of scary things you can think of. The town's Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington (voiced by Chris Sarandon and singing voice by Danny Elfman), is tired of doing the same Halloween thing year after year. One day, he takes a walk with his ghost dog Zero, and stumbles upon a circle of trees carrying all the doorways to holiday worlds, including Thanksgiving, Easter, and Halloween. He opens the Christmas door, obviously, and falls into Christmas Town. He likes it a lot and decides to bring some of the Christmas spirit to Halloween. But when he decides to take over christmas, things will then lead to serious consequences.
The film is unlike any clay animated movie you have ever seen before. The visual effects are gorgeous, the characters are memorable, and even all the songs will get in your head. Henry Selick and Tim Burton make a pretty good duo. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a classic that will be loved for many generations. Definitely one of 1993's greatest films.
