Review of The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) by Ivana C — 28 Oct 2015

Captivating, visual masterpiece.

Its like Tim Burton took the dreams of children and adults and made them come alive. Creating a world that could only be dreamt of. This film is a visual masterpiece, a movie tat I know will be a family favorite for many lifetimes.

The movies main character Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween town, is looked up too by every creature big and small in Halloween town. Though he's looked up to and is the king, Skellington feels a heavy sense of emptiness. Jack sings a song the night of yet another "glorious" Halloween that is both effective as well as engaging as he wonders off into nearby woods, finding himself in a magical place shortly after found a place of nothing but joy, snow, glitter and love, called Christmas town. Jack becomes positively perplexed by the simple atmosphere.

Skellington beings "the change" he had been wishing, wanting, and waiting for. The plot becomes more complex as Jack tries finding out the meaning of x-mas and spread the joy. As the story goes on a disaster unintentionally ruins everything sending a powerful yet hidden message.

Through the journey of "the nightmare before Christmas" other key characters like Sally, Jacks secret admirer and puppet like creation from the angry professor. The city mayor with a good side/bad side, oggie boogie who plays part in the disaster and Mr. holly jolly Santa or "Sandy Claus".

In conclusion, "The nightmare before Christmas" may not be a children's movie, being possibly too strange for younglings. This is most definitely a musically, intriguing, imaginatively captivating film. This movie is a clear picture into the minds of the most widely creative and imaginative filmmakers of not only our time but lifetimes to come.
