Review of The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) by Andy S — 20 Apr 2018
The visuals are spectacular. I remember when this movie came out. It was almost like a revelation, a big turning point in animation. Tim Burtons ideas along with his team of brilliant and creative people, are so innovative and original. You wonder what kind of stuff they were on when they got some of these ideas.
The animation and claymation are just perfect. Everything is just so beautifully done. It's so eerily atmospheric with brilliant lighting of greens and yellows. The attention to detail in this movie is astounding. Everything, from the little sounds to the landscape and backgrounds.
I think a big part of this movie might have to do with Tim Burton and maybe his problems with finding the meaning or the point of Christmas. The whole black light scene with Oogie Boogie was amazing. All the different colors and shades were astounding to look at.
The facial expressions of some of the characters are hilarious at times. Wow, to see what the boogie man is really made up of was pretty spooky.
