Review of The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) by Andrew D — 09 Dec 2016
Working equally as a Christmas and Halloween film, The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stunning musical that engulfs the viewer from the opening number. This film might have not been the first film that Tim Burton collaborated on, but it definitely shows how twisted his mind is.
Nightmare Before Christmas has gained a HUGE cult status in American culture and rightfully deserves so. The musical numbers are well written and extremely catchy. You'll find yourself singing along as the film progresses.
The film is about the king of Halloween, Jack Skellington, who has become bored with the annual traditions of Halloween and longs for something different. Soon, he stumbles upon Christmas Town, and instantly takes a liking to it.
After much research, he figures that he could take over the job of Santa Claus and take care of the holiday himself. I highly encourage people to witness this film. If you've never seen a Tim Burton film (which, in today's world, is hard to believe), then Nightmare Before Christmas will definitely give you a great introduction to Burton's style.
