Review of The Night of the Iguana (1964) by Jack G — 03 Jul 2011
Tennesse Williams is one of the most difficult writers to adapt. Because in his stories, every inch of dialogue works and if you take away anything, it can only harm the play.
But with Night of the Iguana, somehow master director John Huston succeeded in transporting the wonderful play to the screen. Richard Burton plays very effectively and the dialogue and the occasional monologues work out very well.
The setting is great. One of the best play adaptations I've seen.
