Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Andrew B — 17 Jul 2008
Its a melting plot of Horror, Expressionism, Biblical prophetizing, The Grimm Bros, Stalkers, Serial Killers and Noir. Mitchum is the MAN in this production, and no praise can be too great for his performance in this classic.
Try to shut out the images of Shelly Winters hair hauntingly floating above her as she sits peacfully tied to the inside of her car as it forever rests at the bottom of a river. It leaves the viewer with the impression that there is no such thing as being safe in this world.
